Chelsea Public Schools has officially adopted academic calendars for both the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 school years. These calendars were developed through staff collaboration and formally approved by the Board of Education.
By adopting calendars two years in advance, we are providing families, staff, and our community with greater predictability and long-range planning opportunities. This approach reflects our commitment to our district mission: Prioritizing the academic growth of each individual student while inspiring them to become positive members of our community.
When families can plan with confidence, students benefit.
Why Two Years in Advance?
Feedback from both parents and staff regarding the 2025–2026 calendar has been extremely positive. Based on that input, we have modeled the next two academic calendars to closely align with the current structure.
This consistency:
Protects instructional time
Preserves meaningful family breaks
Aligns with Northeast Tech and surrounding area school districts
Allows families and community organizations to plan events well in advance
We value family time, but we also believe deeply in the importance of students being present and engaged. Simply put — we cannot teach empty seats.

Instructional Time & Weather Make-Up Plan
Chelsea Public Schools will not be utilizing virtual days for inclement weather.
If instructional time is lost due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, make-up days will begin with Fridays following Spring Break. If additional days are needed prior to that time, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day remain possible options if inclement weather occurs before those dates.
Our priority is clear: students need to be in school to learn. Protecting in-person instructional time remains central to our planning.
Parent-Teacher Conferences & Professional Development
Parent-Teacher Conferences will continue to be scheduled on the Thursday prior to Fall and Spring Breaks, followed by a Professional Development day for staff on Friday. This structure has been well received and allows teachers to refine instruction while giving families extended time together during breaks.

Families are encouraged to begin planning early
Chelsea Public Schools remains committed to thoughtful planning, instructional excellence, and strong partnerships with our families. By releasing these calendars early, we aim to provide clarity, consistency, and stability for everyone we serve.
We look forward to two strong years ahead.
