Promoting a Whole School Love of Reading
Providing students with the motivation, encouragement, and accountability needed to read independently on a consistent basis helps them develop reading habits that will lead to increased confidence, improved reading skills, and opportunities to find books that they enjoy reading. Art Goad Elementary wants to inspire students to feel the pure joy and love of reading something they are interested in and not just a required reading assignment. Reading for pleasure is a habit fostered at a young age. Once a month Art Goad ES will have a “FOR THE LOVE OF READING” event where the whole school will celebrate reading through fun events. On Friday, September 29, 2023 students and teachers read a book outside of school; Nurture Nature. It was very peaceful and everyone Loved Reading today and the weather was beautiful!

Art Goad - Proud to be a DRAGON! You are summoned to the principal’s office. No matter if you are a student, teacher or parent, you typically have the same reaction. Fear! As a school leader, I have worked hard over the past several years to help take this negative stigma away from these visits. One practice that has helped to make the shift is the implementation of the positive office referral. The goal is to recognize our students for going above and beyond with our school expectations by sending them to the office…for a good reason. We’ve found at our school when we focus on the positive happening instead of just getting hung up on the negative, amazing things happen. When positive referrals go up, negative referrals go down.

CPS is aware of the PSO planned power outage Wed, Sep 20 from 6-8 AM. We will have school beginning at our regularly scheduled time. Child nutrition has a plan to provide breakfast options. Please be patient, we will be without school phones while power is out.

All Grades/All Sites PK-12 Students "New" to Chelsea Public Schools Enrollment date is August 1st, 1:00-6:00 @ CHS Commons AreaStudents who have been attending Chelsea will receive a packet on the first day of classes (August 17th). That packet must be returned by Monday, August 21st. ATTENTION: Current student schedules and teacher class lists will be available during "Open House/Meet the Teacher" night on August 15th from 6:00-8:00.
August 17 will be the First Day of school.
